'The Last Duel' Review (6/12/21)

Wish the public went to see this.

A still extremely relevant showing of how sexual assault victims can be told they’re wrong even after multiple people pleading it to be the truth.

That court scene was excruciating to watch.

Oh and as we already knew Jodie comer is an absolutely astonishing actor. She was formidable throughout the film but especially the third act. Once killing eve is finished, I assume many directors will be itching to work with her. I hope she has a similar trajectory to Anya Taylor Joy.

As if the context of the film wasn’t enough, then they give us that ‘last duel’ which the whole film and title was building up to. It did not disappoint, incredibly intense. I did not know who would come out on top until those final 10 seconds. For a moment I thought I was going to have to watch JC being burnt alive. Thankfully not. We do love watching Ben Affleck sulk too…

By no means an easy watch, but still utterly brilliant.

'Power Of The Dog' (1/12/21)

A career best from Cumberbatch, Dunst and. Smit McPhee. Magnificent score also. It would be my favourite of the year if Spenser didn’t...
